Critters on Bikes

I knew I had to have this orange Knitted Dove gingham dress the moment I saw it! It has the cutest print at the hem: owls and squirrels sitting on bicycles. I wore it a few days ago and paired it with my "Grouchy Bear" Erstwilder brooch; a bear riding a bicycle couldn't have been a better match for this dress!

I discovered Erstwilder a few months ago when I saw other bloggers wearing cute little critter brooches with their outfits. I was lucky to get my first Erstwilder brooch, Paige the Prancing Poodle, as one of the winners on Unique Vintage's giveaway contest on Instagram (thanks UV <3)!!! I loved my poodle brooch and ended up purchasing a few more from an Australian eBay seller. My collection has slowly been growing since :).

I initially took these photos at a park close to where I live. It was the first time I went by myself with a tripod and used the camera's 10-second timer feature. It's one thing when you're with someone else and they're taking pictures of you, but it's a whole other thing when you're by yourself setting up the camera, clicking the shutter button, and running to pose in front of it. I have to say it got pretty awkward at times with people staring as they passed by. I didn't get too many nice shots at the park (plus it wasn't the best time of the day for ideal lighting) so I just had my sister take some with my iPhone later... so much easier and faster too! I commend all you ladies who take outfit pictures by yourselves...

Summer is fast approaching, which means applications to grad schools are opening up soon! That is probably the part about summer I'm least looking forward to. Anyone have any fun summer plans in the works?

Good luck applying! I'm going on vacation with my husband in July, to Virginia Beach. I can't wait!

  3. This bike dress is the cutest and screams summer time! I love the little loafers paired with it.

Good luck with grad school applications! I didn't realize they opened up in the summer. I think I applied in January or something!

  4. Yes, it sure can get awkward taking pics by yourself! I often take mine in my driveway and we live on a busy corner. The cars driving by used to bother me but I've gotten used to it and don't even care anymore if they're wondering what the heck I am doing! Haha!

  5. I hate taking pictures by myself. I am sure I'll get better in time, but having someone else is so much faster! Love the dress, definitely a keeper.

  6. That is incredibly cute, oh my word!!! Peach looks sensational on you, dear gal. It really compliments your colouring and brings out the loveliest golden-y shades in your brunette locks. So pretty!

Oodles of hugs & many sincere thanks for your wonderfully nice comment on my latest vintage outfit post,

  7. This is such an adorable outfit! I love your little critter brooch, as well. :) As for taking photos by myself, I don't think I could ever do it where people would see me. Haha. I just do way too many silly things when trying to get a shot. I don't mind it so much if I'm in an area where no one can see me, though.

  9. I commend all the ladies too that use the self-timer tripod. I never have the guts to use mine outside of my house, but your photos came out so beautiful I may have to start doing so!
    Hope all is well!

  10. I am so late on all these blog posts! I have just been way too busy lately and I can't believe that I missed this adorable outfit! I really love this dress! I commend you for even attempting to take your own photos. I bought a tripod and a wireless remote forever ago and still have not been brave enough to go out and take pictures by myself. I don't know how people do it! I really need to get over it though, because it's not very convenient to have to wait on my husband all the time. Maybe I'll just start in my backyard and then work up to a public place. ;)
