Liebster Award Nomination

Happy Friday! I'm so excited to have been nominated by the lovely Amanda of Sans Scrubs to participate in the Leibster Awards! A Leibster Award is a fun way to learn more about other bloggers by asking them a whole bunch of "facts-about-you" type questions. Amanda is one of the sweetest bloggers I've met, not to mention her style is totally adorable, and I'm so honored to have been nominated by her :).

The Rules:
1) Acknowledge the blog who nominated you
2) Answer the 11 questions given to you from the blogger
3) Give 11 random facts about yourself
4) Nominate 11 blogs you think are deserving of the award (less than 200 followers)
5) Let the bloggers know that you have nominated them
6) Give 11 questions for them to answer
7) Display the award photo in your post

Amanda's Questions:
1. What inspired you to start writing/blogging?
I am a fairly new blogger actually :), I decided to start blogging a few months ago when I realized I wanted to share my outfits with more than the people I saw in person every day. By blogging, I can connect with a whole community of fashion bloggers from all corners of the world who have my similar tastes in fashion. Needless to say I'm lucky to have "met" so many lovely ladies (like Amanda!) who inspire and influence my own style!

2. Tea or coffee?
Coffee! I love the taste of coffee but unfortunately the caffeine gives me terrible anxiety. Le sigh. Decaf it is. My favorite drink is a hazelnut latte, with a chocolate chip cookie on the side.

3. Name three guilty pleasure books and/or movies that you’re sorry you’re not sorry you like (say that three times fast).
Hmm... I'm sorry I'm not sorry that I LOVE Disney movies! It's hard to choose three since I love so many of the classics, but my top three would be Frozen, Finding Nemo, and The Lion King. I'll never get tired of them!

4. If you could change your name to anything, what would you change it to?
I wouldn't change my name, I would just change the spelling of it. Too many people pronounce my name as "Sir Lee" when it's actually more like "Sara-lee". I know I can change it but I wouldn't want to change the way my parents originally wrote it. Also legally changing your name is too big of an administrative headache to go through :P.

5. What advice would you give your six-year-old self?
Don't let other kids (the way they dress or how popular they are) influence how you feel about yourself. Just be yourself and be happy and everything else will fall into place. School is important, but you're only a kid once so do more kid things and don't take school so seriously!

6. What is the wallpaper on your cell phone?
Pretty yellow flowers on a blue sky background :). It was one of the default options on my iPhone :P.

7. Are you a goal driven person or are you a process oriented person?
Definitely goal-driven. If I can't picture the end product of what I'm doing, I have a hard time staying motivated.

8. If you could go back to any age just for a week what age would you chose?
5 years old. I miss kindergarten and nap time.

9. Are you a morning or night person?
Night person. I would like to be a morning person; I think waking up early gives you a certain positive energy to start your day. But I much rather stay up late, my most efficient hours in terms of productivity are between 11pm and 2am. I can't sleep unless I feel satisfied that I've done a lot for the day, which (along with the procrastination) usually takes me late into the night.

10. Favorite musician/band?
Coldplay has always been my favorite band. I associate a lot of their songs with happy memories. Their music is almost hypnotic and listening to them always lifts my mood! I went to their concert last year and it was amazing.

11. If you could shrink any animal–real or mythical–so that it was pocket sized, what animal would you shrink and keep as a pet?
I would shrink a panda, they are the cutest! But I wouldn't want to keep it as a pet, since they are wild animals. Can I un-shrink it after a few hours and release it back into the wild?

11 Random Facts About Me:
1) I consider myself an introvert. I can get especially shy when meeting new people.

2) I have grapheme synesthesia. My brain perceives numbers/letters/people as colors. It's really weird and I sound like a freak when I try to explain it.

3) I love dogs. So so so much! I have a malti-poo but one day I'd love to own a large breed dog, ideally a Golden Retriever. My screen name in middle school had the letters "GRL" in it which stood for Golden Retriever Lover even though most people thought it meant "girl". Also, when I was 5 years old, I told people I wanted to be a dog when I grew up. When I was old enough to realize that that wasn't possible, I wanted to be a dog trainer instead. Then a veterinarian. My mind changed again when I realized how much seeing a sick dog or animal would get to me.

4) I'm Christian and I'm so thankful for all God has blessed me with.

5) I'm a compulsive shopper, especially when it comes to anything vintage, kitschy, or clothing with novelty prints.

6) The Office is one of my favorite shows. I've watched more reruns of The Office than any other show. Michael Scott is my favorite character of all time.

7) I love chocolate ice cream and macaron cookies, other than that I'm not too much of a sweets person. I don't like desserts that are too rich or heavy. I'll usually pass on cake, cupcakes, and brownies.

8) I love to paint landscapes and animals. Unfortunately I rarely get the time to these days.

9) I became a total germaphobe when I started my job as a lab research assistant. Learning of the dangers of being unsterile at the workplace and the importance of wearing gloves and washing hands often has turned me a bit paranoid, I will admit.

10) I have very fine hair that lacks volume. So I use a straightening iron to curl my hair almost every day. Which is why my hair is always damaged and I have to cut it before giving it the chance to grow out :(.

11) I'm bilingual, fluent in both English and Armenian. I didn't start learning English until I was 5 years old. And I know a little bit of Spanglish, too!

  1. Yay! Loved reading this! Finally finding some time to catch up! I am right there with you on becoming a total germaphobe through work, I literally strip my scrubs off and leave my shoes in the garage before I even enter the house! (The things you see on a nursing home/hospital floor would scare you, and the worst part is I've seen parents let their infants crawl around down there! YUCK!)
Thanks for all the fun facts and laughter while reading, you are too cute and funny, especially how you wanted to be a dog when you grew up!!

    1. Oh no! I understand building your kid's immunity by letting them play in the grass but a hospital floor is just disgusting! :/ Thanks so much Amanda! <3
