Getting Nautical

As a lover of novelty prints, it's no surprise that this boats print dress by UK designer Emily and Fin is a part of my wardrobe. Unfortunately the top part of this cut has a tendency to billow out a little and sit weird, but I loved the print so much that I had the top altered to fit better. For this reason though I'm hesitant to buy more dresses from them, as cute as they are! I got this dress sometime last year and I decided to take pictures wearing it at a local hiking trail (these pictures aren't recent). Anytime my hair is its true dark brown color you know the pictures are older since I'm currently a lighter brown/caramel ;).

I am taking a class at my local community college right now, which started this week, so along with my full-time job things have been busy lately. I might not be posting as often as I'd like but hopefully things will get more stable in the coming weeks and I will be back on schedule! I have a few more older outfit pictures saved that I can share until I have more time to style and shoot new outfit pics. For now, these will have to do :). I hope everyone is having a lovely extended Labor Day weekend!

Dress: Emily and Fin (similar)
Shoes: Qupid
Belt: borrowed from another dress
Petticoat: Lucy B
Watch: American Eagle (similar from Aldo)

  2. Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous! Such a fun print, I love all things nautical (my family has a beach house, so I grew up on the water and loving all things related) Good luck with your class, hope it's at least something you enjoy!

  4. Emily & Fin make some great dresses! I've heard that they have strange sizing as well, so I have yet to make a purchase, but they do have the best prints! I love how you styled yours with those navy t-strap heals!

  5. That dress is so pretty! I've considered getting the same dress in another print but I'm totally turned off by the neckline. Apparently I'm not the only one! I just borrowed an Emily and Fin dress from Sammi and I had a really hard time giving it back. The quality is wonderful and the neckline was different. You find the best photo locations, these pictures are perfect. Hope school is going well, sounds like you have a lot on your plate!

  6. Such a beautiful dress, I am a sucker for all things nautical!!! Sometimes if I have a dress that billows out a bit like that on the bust, I get darts put in under the bust to the waist - to create a more streamlined silhouette.

    1. Thanks Lauren, you're the sweetest! I'll have to admit it's not easy posing for multiple angle shots when someone else is taking the pictures, it does feel a little weird haha but you get used to it! xo
