By the Lakeside

This past weekend I was down in San Diego visiting my boyfriend and we discovered this really pretty lake close to his place. I can't believe we hadn't been there before! It's definitely our new picnic (and outfit-photoshoot) spot ;). There seem to be so many pretty places in San Diego and I love finding somewhere new. I love taking pictures in nature because the background is always so pretty, but I couldn't help feeling a bit out of place being this dressed up at the lake. Maybe it's just me, but I felt like people in their workout or otherwise casual clothes were looking at me all weird! I hope some good pictures came out of it at least :).

The dress I'm wearing is by the brand Taylor.
I joined a clothing swap group on Facebook last year and a few months ago I was lucky enough to score this dress in exchange for a dress I don't wear anymore. It's the best feeling to swap out "old" clothes for new ones!

Details of the belt, necklace, and print of the dress.

I love the back cut-out of this dress. It's shows some skin but in a totally classy way! I think this dress is better suited for more formal events. I wore it for my sister's graduation in June and I can't wait for an occasion to wear it again :).

  1. So pretty! And don't worry- the stares were probably good as you def look like an old Hollywood movie star here and they were probably in awe! (PS I kind of wish more people dresses up on a regular basis because it's always weird to be amongst the T-shirt and jean crowd when you're dolled up!). XO

  2. I always think that a cut out is the classiest way to show a little skin! I've been getting kinda used to the weird looks when I take outfit pics somewhere other than my backyard...It's flattering! they probably thought you were a model from NYC!

  3. Beautiful photos and gorgeous dress - love the black and white with red accents :) Taking blog photos outdoors can be a bit funny with everyone going by wondering why you're so dressed up - especially when its in the morning and everyone is still in their gym gear :P

  5. Cute! You look stunning, as always. The cutout in the dress is really lovely.
I know what you mean about feeling out of place when you're wearing something a lot fancier than everyone else, but I have come to get used to the fact that I am almost always the most "dressed up" one, and try not to pay attention to people watching me when I take pictures for my blog, etc.

  11. Love the idea of a clothing swap site, can you recommend any? I have SO many clothes that I've maybe worn once or twice and would love to trade with someone! Lovely entry, and I'm sure people were staring because you look so beautiful, and they were in admiration!

  12. A clothing swap group is such a good idea! I love this dress, it's so cute on you. Fit and Flare dresses are my absolute favorite! :)
I know what you mean about feeling out of place when you are having your pictures taken in public. As a new blogger myself, I'm still having a hard time getting used to all the looks. It just feels so awkward, but hopefully it gets easier over time.

  15. You look absolutely gorgeous! I love the bow belt. I always feel overdressed too, but I go by the saying, "One cannot be overdressed, only underdressed" If you are wearing something you love it shouldn't matter, right? :) That is a stunning lake spot too. I do hope you can share many picnics there-I know I would!
